DeRita Technology Goal

My goal: To help students in developing the ability to effectively communicate information and ideals to an audience in a variety of ways.

Because students are increasingly being asked to show what they have learned in school through digital portfolios and digital presentations as a requirement for graduation, I feel there is a strong need to teach them how to do this. I would like to develop a communications unit that addresses this need. The requirement to create a professional presentation has changed greatly in resent years and there are many new skills that need to be acquired. In this unit I would like to give the students the opportunity to learn the necessary skills to create a video presentation. This would involve learning to operate digital cameras and digital video equipment as well video programs like Microsoft Move Maker. I have been working on this goal for a few years now. I have written a few grants that have allowed me to purchase the necessary computers, digital video equipment, large capacity storage device, and software. Also, taking this class will help me achieve my goal.

Today we were taking some photos and downloading them to our blogs. I knew how to do some of this but, as always, I did learn a few new tricks.
